Give us your Favorite Recipes and we will make them GLUTEN FREE

One of the hardest things about switching to a gluten free diet is that all of your old recipes are lost. Well not any more. We want to make your transition as simple and painless as possible and show the world that being gluten free is not a burden. Email me at glutenfreegus@gmail.com any family recipe and I will adjust the ingredients to make it gluten free. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of recipes we receive we are not able to get to everyone, but we encourage you to submit and will do our best. Plus, with your permission, your recipe may even be featured on the blog itself!

  1. Any tips for someone who is new to gluten free food and doesn’t know the first thing about cooking? My usual food habits were to eat at restaurants or grab something store bought from the pantry, fridge or freezer. I look at even the most basic gluten free recipes and get overwhelmed!

    • 1. Pamela’s Baking Mix. 2. Pamela’s Baking Mix. 3. Pamela’s Baking Mix. It’s a (Bisquick) like mix, but nicer because it’s made in smaller batches and contains almond “flour.” The recipes on the package for muffins, pancakes, cookies, scones… are easy, reliable, and adaptable. As you become more comfortable you’ll want to purchase a wider variety of GF flours and experiment with some of your own (or our) recipes. In the meantime, you can do this comfortably with Pamela’s Baking Mix, available at most markets and on-line. The first meal I ate “out” after Gus’s diagnosis with Celiac Disease and Type 1 Diabetes was at a friend’s home. She served grilled salmon, steamed rice with fresh herbs, asparagus, salad, and meringues with a berry compote and whipped cream: a gluten-free meal without even trying! This is going to be easier than you think. Oh, and pick up a loaf of Udi’s Bread (also available on line). Let me know how it goes!
