Tuesday Tip: Plastic Dough Scraper

One of the nicer dough scrapers

One of the most satisfactory and least expensive tools in our kitchen is the humble dough scraper. Mine isn’t as nice as the one pictured above made by Allegheny Treeware. Wood is beautiful, but my plastic version is just as effective.

I use it to clean up the flour left from kneading (scones) on a counter top or cutting board: scrape once – sponge once. Bakers using wheat flour and other gluten containing flours might be more appreciative since it helps keep sponges from getting gummed up. A dough scraper makes GF baking clean up easier than it already is.
